DJ’s Bagel Cafe . . An Institution In Fountain Hills Since 1997

DJ’s Bagel Cafe in Fountain Hills is for all intent and purpose is pretty much an institution now in Fountain Hills. DJ’s opened their doors in 1997 and siince that time  it has received rave reviews on Yelp, Trip Advisor, Urban Spoon, AZ Central and a host of other sites. The majority of us locals have been to DJ’s umpteen times, but let me tell you his patrons come from far and wide to get their fix for a New York  style bagel in a place that has come to be known as an authentic, East Coast Bagelry.

If you’re new to Fountain Hills or are visiting from somewhere, DJ’s is the place to go for breakfast or lunch. Cheap too, you can easily get out for under $10 a person. Everything is fresh and delicious. The service is excellent and fast. The staff is pretty much local high school students and they are always polite and very friendly in what is a pretty casual atmosphere.

The bagels are large and there are 22 types or flavors to choose from. “Soft and thick on the inside with the perfect chewiness and a boiled crust on the outside” is how one regular described DJ’s bagels. There are several home made cream cheese blends to choose from as well as well as fresh nova lox, capers, tomatoes, and red onions. In addition to great bagels their omlettes are hard to beat, I love them because the egg portion of the omelet is nice and thin and loaded with whatever ingredient you choose, i.e. mushrooms, bacon, tomato, spinach, plus any kind of cheese. The other house favorite is their bacon, egg and cheese bagel.

Lunch, DJ’s bagel sandwiches are amazing. Some of them are 4″ tall! There’s a wide variety of Boar’s Head deli meat to choose from and all sandwiches come with a choice of a side salad such as home-made potato salad, macaroni salad, cucumber salad, or fresh fruit. Home made chicken salad or a tasty shrimp salad are other standouts. You can also order breakfast since it’s served all day. They also have some wonderful green salads. I especially love their Greek salad or the Caesar. By the way they are huge, go for the small unless your starving.

Got a sweet tooth, its going to be hard to pass up the pastry case filed with chocolate-cream cheese muffins, over sized rice krispy treats, napoleons, or one of the 6″ round chocolate chip cookies or cinnamon rolls. I’m a chocolate chip lover and these are really really good!

Well it’s about 12:15, pretty close to lunch time for me and now that I’ve made myself very hungry talking about all this great food, I think I will head over to DJ’s.  Its only 5 minutes from where I live, maybe I’ll see you there. Oh DJ’s Bagel Cafe is located at 13693 N Fountain Hills Blvd. (480)816-4155
Summer hours are 6am-5pm M-F and Sun. 7am-3pm
