Why A Gemini Twin Home May Be Right For You

filed under: 2nd Home Buyers, Real Estate

Front Gemini Twin HomeLast week I wrote a post about why Gemini Twin homes are often overlooked by prospective buyers. In this post I want to go over some specifics about these type of homes and why a Gemini Twin home may be the right type of property for you.

Even though Gemini Twin homes are classified as “condos” usually there are no HOA fees

Rather than dealing with the density factor, homeowner’s associations, and hefty HOA fees that are inherent with condominium developments, you may find a Gemini home is a nice alternative.  Yes most Gemini homes are classified as condominiums and have a homeowner association but usually do not have any HOA fees. The association is between you and your neighbor.

Gemini Twin homes have the feeling of a single family home without the price tag

Each homeowner, and typically there are only two, is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of their own unit.  In most cases this is desert landscaping on a drip system so there is not that much to maintain, painting the exterior of your unit and roof maintenance.  Often when exterior painting is needed the two owners will do it at the same time. You will also have your own yard and patio area. There may be some area in the front of your home that is considered common area for both of the homes.

Gemini homes are great for homeowners that want to scale down, first time buyers or second homeowners. They are typically two and three bedroom properties. They can be priced anywhere from around $115,000 to $350,000, and are usually between 1,000 and 1,800 SF in size.
